The Research Committee (RC) of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) held its 11th Research Forum 2022 with the theme: “Research Resiliency Amidst Omicron Surge” last November 14-15, 2022 at the Reodica Hall. The two-day event showcased the research analytical skills of the hospital’s resident physicians through the Case Report and Analytical Research Presentations.

The Case Report competition had a total of 16 participants from the different medical and surgical departments of the institution. Dr. Karl Elvis S. Espinosa emerged as champion with his report entitled “A Case of Symptomatic Bradycardia Secondary to Cor Triatriatum Dexter in a 33-year-old Female.” For second place, Dr. Clarrene Anne F. Barrios from the Department of General Surgery reported on “A Case of Juvenile Breast Hypertrophy who underwent Breast Reduction Surgery”. Meanwhile, Dr. Odessa S. Sales finished third place for her case report on “Artery of Percheron Infarction”.

On the second day, 16 medical and surgical residents battled for the crown under the Analytical Research category. Dr. Sheena Grace A Clarito won first place for her research entitled “Modified ROX-HR index Versus ROX Index in Predicting High FLow Nasal Cannula(HFNC) Therapy Outcomes inCOVID 19 Infected Patients Admitted in a Tertiary Government Hospital in Bacolod City”. Moreover, Dr. Jose Roberto C. Baito and Dr. Loius Isagani Z. Uy finished second and third places, respectively. Dr. Baito presented his paper on “The Predictive Value of the Quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA) Versus the National Early Warning Score(NEWS) 2 Criteria in the Determination of Outcome of Community Acquired Pneumonia in a Tertiary Hospital in Negros Occidental” while Dr. Uy presented his topic of interest on “The Association of Diabetic Foot Ulcer Patient Mortality to Cardiovascular and Renal Risk Factor”.

The winners of each category were awarded with certificates of recognition and cash prizes.

In his remarks, Dr. Julius M. Drilon, Medical Center Chief of CLMMRH, urged everyone to persevere in pursuit of producing excellent bodies of research that will make a difference in the field of healthcare.
