In celebration of the Filipino Elderly Week last October 1 to 7, 2022, with the theme Older Persons: Resilience in Nation Building, CLMMRH, through the Geriatrics Clinic, Health Education and Promotion Officer (HEPO), and the Outpatient Department, conducted several activities dedicated for the senior citizens.
The celebration started last October 3, 2022 at the Geriatrics Clinic wherein a lecture on Dementia was conducted. This was followed by a gift-giving activity to the geriatric patients.
In addition, a Community Outreach at Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City was done last October 5, 2022. During the activity, the CLMMRH Geriatrics Clinic was introduced and a lecture on Dementia followed. Other activities included chair Zumba, games (prizes prepared and sponsored by FAMED residents), free clinic for senior citizens (vitamins and maintenance medications were provided by the Barangay Pahanocoy Council headed by Barangay Captain Yolanda Noble). This was concluded by some snacks sponsored by the CLMMRH Cooperative.
The culmination of the week-long celebration was a tribute to senior CLMMRH Personnel yesterday, October 7. The senior personnel were invited through text to drop by the West Tower Pantry for some “surprise” while those who were unable to leave their work area were visited by the facilitators with the surprise gifts and snacks. The highlight of the said activity was the gift-giving sponsored by the CLMMRH Employees’ Union. Personalized abaca bags with goodies for females and personalized mugs for the males were distributed. Meanwhile, the CLMMRH Geriatric nurses also gave out extra gifts for the nurses.
The facilitators of the series of activities were from the Geriatrics Clinic headed by Dr. Eireen Ayalin, assisted by the Geriatric Nurses: Ms. Maribel Tecson and Ms. Mary June Carinal; HEPO, Ms. Catherine Infante, and the Department of Family and Community Medicine doctors.
Lastly, on the same day, the senior citizen patients at the Outpatient Department also went home happy after they were given free vitamins from Pharma Nutria.
It is indeed fitting to celebrate our Filipino elderlies who stand as pillars and as great source wisdom of every family and organization. May they be blessed with more years of good health and happiness as they continue to become models of resilience for the younger generations.
