The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology is celebrating 15 years of service to the Negrense people. It was established in 1998 to care for broken bones and painful joints. From a humble beginning with four consultants and two residents, it presently has a staff of more than fifteen. Outpatient consultations, state-of-the-art surgical intervention, and emergency room management comprise majority of the Department’s thrust to reach out. Beyond treating extremity aches, problems with mobility, and functional impediments arising from aging or accidents, the Department has had excellent rapport with training its students. In the field of research, it continues to be an example for timely and relevant studies in the region and the country. With such competent credentials, the Department looks forward to shine for decades to come in the service of the Negrense people.
To be the nucleus for the delivery of orthopaedic health care services, to be the catalyst for orthopaedic research, and to be the dynamic orthopaedic training center in the island, with the region as well as the nation as its ultimate principal.
Pertinent to the noble purpose of the Corazon L. Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital and our department’s goals to serve the community and the nation, WE commit to efficient and compassionate orthopaedic health-care services for the early return to function of our patients. WE shall strive to seek new pathways for the delivery of methodical and affordable care solidly based on ethical and humanitarian foundations. WE shall nurture our staff and trainees to deliver all these with the highest levels compassion, honor and competence.
